Aerospace Engineering (Graduate Certificate)

About

The aerospace industry is a dynamic and multidisciplinary field, encompassing the design, analysis, testing, and operation of aircraft, spacecraft, and related systems. As aerospace technology advances rapidly, there is a growing demand for professionals with cutting-edge expertise, not only in traditional engineering areas but also in emerging fields such as autonomous flight, space exploration, and advanced materials. This certificate serves as a focused pathway for students and professionals seeking to enhance their technical competencies, transition into aerospace roles, or upskill to meet the evolving demands of the industry and Maine’s nascent space economy.

While there are various different options for attending graduate school, The 91±¬ÁÏ is the only college to offer a graduate certificate in Aerospace Engineering in the state of Maine. In fact, 91±¬ÁÏ is one of only two colleges in New England to offer an Aerospace Engineering graduate certificate. The department is proud to prepare you to use principles of science, engineering, and mathematics to solve complex Aerospace Engineering problems that meet the needs of various stakeholders.

Program Highlights

  • Learn to identify, formulate, and solve complex Aerospace Engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics
  • Find different ways to apply engineering design to produce Aerospace Engineering solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of stakeholder requirements and holistic design impacts
  • Classes will give you the opportunity to communicate advanced engineering solutions to your classmates and professors by creating technical reports and presentations

Requirements

The Certificate requires completion of 12 credits (4 courses). A minimum grade of C+ is allowable in a maximum of one course. At least three of the completed courses (9 credits) must be at 500 or 600 level. A maximum of one course (or 3 credits) at 400 or 500 level may be transferred from outside of 91±¬ÁÏ to the program for credit. At least one course must be taken in each of the 2 categories (analysis/computational, and design). The certificate program shall be completed within 3 years from the date of acceptance into the program.

Note: Students who have already completed an undergraduate or graduate concentration in Aerospace Engineering at 91±¬ÁÏ are not eligible to enroll in the Graduate Aerospace Engineering Certificate program.
