The Met: Live in HD – Tristan und Isolde

Lise Davidsen tackles one of the ultimate roles for dramatic soprano: the Irish princess Isolde in Wagner鈥檚 transcendent meditation on love and death. Heroic tenor Michael Spyres stars opposite Davidsen as the love-drunk Tristan. The momentous occasion also marks the advent of a new, Met-debut staging by Yuval Sharon鈥攈ailed by The New York Times as 鈥渢he most visionary opera director of his generation鈥 and the first American to direct an opera at the famed Wagner festival in Bayreuth鈥攁s well as Music Director Yannick N茅zet-S茅guin鈥檚 first time leading Tristan und Isolde at the Met. Mezzo-soprano Ekaterina Gubanova reprises her signature portrayal of Brang盲ne, alongside bass-baritone Tomasz Konieczny, who sings Kurwenal after celebrated Met appearances in Wagner鈥檚 Der Fliegende Holl盲nder and Ring cycle. Bass-baritone Ryan Speedo Green makes an important role debut as King Marke.

The Metropolitan Opera鈥檚 Peabody- and Emmy Award-winning series, The Met: Live in HD, lets fans immerse themselves in opera up to 10 times a year. Up to 12 cameras capture the onstage drama, as well as the fascinating backstage action, and transmit it from New York City to the Collins Center for the Arts and other venues across the globe.
