SUMMARY:The Mindful Eye: Art & Wellness Series in Lord Hall Gallery
DESCRIPTION:Accompanying the 2026 Faculty Exhibition will be weekly programing called The Mindful Eye. Each Friday from 11-12:30 (February 6\, 13\, 20\, 27\, March 6\, 13)\, the Gallery will offer slow looking exercises\, yoga\, meditation\, and pranayama (breathwork) using the artwork on display as a tool for mindfulness. These events are free and open to all. The Mindful Eye is generously supported by the Alton ’38 and Adelaide Hamm Campus Activities Fund.

SUMMARY:Physics and Astronomy Colloquium: Sustainable\, Reliable\, and Secure AI
DESCRIPTION:The latest installment of the Colloquium Series from the Department of Physics and Astronomy is scheduled to take place on February 27 at 3:15 PM in 140 Bennett Hall. \nThe event – titled “Sustainable\, Reliable\, and Secure AI” – will be presented by Ayesha Siddique\, assistant professor in the Department of Computer and Electrical Engineering at the 91±¬ÁĎ. \nFrom the abstract: \nApproximate computing has been widely explored as a means to improve the energy efficiency of deep neural networks (DNNs) for edge AI hardware. However\, both accurate and approximate DNNs remain inherently vulnerable to faults and adversarial attacks\, and the reliability and adversarial robustness of approximate DNNs remain largely unexplored. This gap presents an opportunity to rethink how we design sustainable and dependable AI hardware. In this seminar\, I will discuss our recent advances in post-fabrication fault mitigation methods and the principled selection of hardware approximation techniques to preserve adversarial robustness under attack. I will highlight how we leverage emerging computing paradigms\, such as explainable artificial intelligence\, neural architecture search\, moving target defense\, and neuromorphic computing\, to ensure reliability\, security\, and energy efficiency. This seminar outlines a path toward AI hardware that is not only high-performing and energy-aware but also resilient against both hardware faults and security threats. \nThis event is free and open to the public.

Into this mix\, they will throw in a bit of mysterious dark matter\, a few black holes\, a dash of dark energy\, and finish it off with a pinch of strange elementary particles. \nHowever\, for an ordinary Earthling\, such a list of fancy terms feels just like flipping through a cookbook\, without being able to taste the individual ingredients\, let alone the finished product. That’s why we decided to serve you the universe in a completely different way – You will experience it with all your senses! \nDiscover what it feels like to touch the universe\, what a comet or cosmic space smells like\, and even how the Saturn’s moon Enceladus or the planet Mars taste like. DESCRIPTION:A musical adaptation of a wildly popular series of books is coming to the Hauck Auditorium stage at the 91±¬ÁĎ! \nThe 91±¬ÁĎ School of Performing Arts Division of Theatre and Dance is proud to present “The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical” as their first production of Spring 2026! The show is based on the Percy Jackson books by Rick Riordan. For this stage adaptation\, the music and lyrics are by Rob Rokicki and the book is by Joe Tracz. \nIt’s the story of young Percy Jackson\, an ordinary young person who discovers that he has extraordinary origins. Soon\, he finds himself thrust into a world of gods and magic that he doesn’t fully understand\, all while trying to navigate his own ideas and identity. \nThis production – directed by D. Granke – will run February 27 through March 8 in Hauck Auditorium\, now featuring a brand-new state-of-the-art theatrical lighting system! Tickets are $15; admission is free with a student MaineCard.
