SUMMARY:WGS- Gender Studies and Quantitative research in Stem
DESCRIPTION:How do critical and equity-related frameworks influence research and teaching at 91±¬ÁĎ?” \nCome join us for an exploration of where and how a women’s and gender-studies framework of analysis meets research and teaching in STEM fields! Following Kevin Roberge’s brief overview of a new course WGS is piloting on socially responsible data analysis\, faculty from STEM fields share examples from their own teaching and research of how equity-related frameworks for inquiry inform and shape their research and/or pedagogy or curriculum\, and by focusing on such questions as: \n1) How do critical or equity-related frameworks impact research and/or teaching in your field?\n2) How do you convey the importance or significance of these frameworks to your students\, and what obstacles and or challenges have you faced along the way?\n3) What is one example of this kind of work from your own research and/or teaching? \nPresenters\n· Kevin Roberge\, he/him\, M.A. in mathematics\, Women’s\, Gender and Sexuality\nStudies lecturer.\n· Sue Ishaq (“eyeshack”)\, she/her\, Ph.D.\, Associate Professor of Microbiomes\nand Founder of the Microbes and Social Equity working group\n· Meredith Kirkmann\, she/her\, P.E.\, Associate Professor of Construction\nEngineering Technology\n· Reed Miller\, he/him\, Ph.D.\, Assistant Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering
