The desperation within the family spirals\, leaving Tom to choose between the comfort of his family and his own happiness. \nThis important piece of the 20th century theatrical canon will be directed by Owen Hines and is almost entirely student-produced. Tickets are $15\, but admission is free with a student MaineCard. The show runs from April 3 through April 12; come see our talented students bring this great American play to vivid life in the Cyrus Pavilion Theater.

DESCRIPTION:Join Piscataquis County Soil and Water Conservation District and 91±¬ĮĻ Cooperative Extension for an in-person pruning workshop that combines an indoor overview of best practices with outdoor\, hands-on instruction. Participants will learn practical pruning techniques for shrubs while working directly with experienced instructors in a small-group setting. \nDate: April 11\, 1-3 p.m. (inclement weather date April 12\, same time)\nLocation: Law Farm Nature Trails\, Lee Cemetery Road\, Dover-Foxcroft\nCost: $20/person \nRegistration deadline: April 9\, Register here! \nWhat to Expect:\nThe session will begin at the Law Farm Outdoor Classroom (approximately 45 minutes) with an overview of pruning principles\, tools\, and safety considerations. DESCRIPTION:York County is home to a vibrant mix of farmsā€”from small specialty growers to multi-generation family operations. \nTheĀ York County Farmers Network (YCFN)Ā was broughtĀ back to life to support this community\, foster connection\, and help local agriculture thrive well into the future. \nIn recent years\, York County farms have embracedĀ agritourismĀ andĀ direct-to-consumer markets\, contributing to Maineā€™s $172 million in direct farm sales. But as farming evolves\, so do the challengesā€”like preparing for change in long term weather patterns\, navigating labor and finances\, and planning for the next generation. \nIn this workshop\, Renae Moran will demonstrate pruning techniques and teach the principles of pruning fruit trees. The class will include a discussion of different strategies of pruning that can improve fruiting and manage tree size. DESCRIPTION:Lord Hall Gallery is proud to host the Department of Artā€™s 2026 Student Exhibition. This show celebrates the diverse artwork made by students at the 91±¬ĮĻ who have taken undergraduate courses in the Department of Art. The Department of Art offers foundational studies in 2D Design\, 3D Design\, and Drawing\, as well as media-specific classes in Painting\, Ceramics\, Photography\, Printmaking\, Digital Art\, Graphic Design\, Drawing\, and Sculpture. More information about the Department is available here:umaine.edu/las/art. \nStudents who were enrolled in an Art class in Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 had the opportunity to submit up to six pieces for consideration in this juried exhibition. This yearā€™s juror is Rochelle Lawrence. Lawrence is an artist and serves as the Assistant Curator and Education Coordinator at the Zillman Art Museum. \nThe exhibition runs from April 6th through May 1st. A public reception will be held on Friday April 10th from 5:00-7:00pm. During the reception\, selected students will be honored with awards. SUMMARY:Tractor Safety Certification Course - Sidney
DESCRIPTION:This 5-week course starts onĀ April 13th atĀ Kramerā€™s Inc.Ā in Sidney\, ME. \nParticipants will learn how to handle tractors and equipment safely\, how to identify hazards\, and how to minimize the chances of accidents. The course is open to all adults and youth interested. A Federal Certificate of Training will be issued at the end of the course after successful completion of the written test and driving course and with attendance requirements met. This certificate is required for 14 and 15 year olds who plan to operate farm equipment for hire on farms other than their own. \nFormat: \n\nIn-person lectures\, hands-on demonstrations\, and tractor driving.\nAdditional reading and coursework outside of class time. SUMMARY:2026 Student Exhibition in Lord Hall Gallery
DESCRIPTION:Lord Hall Gallery is proud to host the Department of Artā€™s 2026 Student Exhibition. This show celebrates the diverse artwork made by students at the 91±¬ĮĻ who have taken undergraduate courses in the Department of Art. The Department of Art offers foundational studies in 2D Design\, 3D Design\, and Drawing\, as well as media-specific classes in Painting\, Ceramics\, Photography\, Printmaking\, Digital Art\, Graphic Design\, Drawing\, and Sculpture. More information about the Department is available here:umaine.edu/las/art. \nStudents who were enrolled in an Art class in Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 had the opportunity to submit up to six pieces for consideration in this juried exhibition. This yearā€™s juror is Rochelle Lawrence. Lawrence is an artist and serves as the Assistant Curator and Education Coordinator at the Zillman Art Museum. \nThe exhibition runs from April 6th through May 1st. A public reception will be held on Friday April 10th from 5:00-7:00pm. During the reception\, selected students will be honored with awards. Upon her retirement from Unum she participated in the Master Gardener Class of 2017. Rachel has been intrigued and involved in growing vegetables since she was 3 in her own backyard in Pennsylvania\, and in Maine since 1981. Rachel joined the Cape Elizabeth Community Garden at the Gull Crest Fields in the mid 2000ā€™s\, which had been established as a Master Gardener project by three Cape residents. After gardening at the Gull Crest Garden for a few years\, Rachel put her corporate experience and love of gardening to work and became involved in managing the garden\, a role she has played since 2010. Rachelā€™s big focus at the Gull Crest Garden has been helping gardeners grow their own organic produce\, building community and growing food for the Maine Harvest for Hunger. Since its inception in 2002\, this community garden has donated 10\,000 pounds of food to local area food pantries. \nJohnny Sanchez\, Collective Gardens Program Coordinator & Volunteer Coordinator (he/him)\, joined the Food And Medicine (FAM) staff in 2021. Johnny was born in Albuquerque\, NM and grew up on the Ohkay Owingeh reservation in northern New Mexico where he gained a passion for growing food and feeding people. After graduating undergrad from Dartmouth College\, he further developed this passion by pursuing a Masters degree in sustainable agriculture from the 91±¬ĮĻ and managing a farm in central Maine before coming to FAM. At FAM\, he has utilized these skills to help coordinate the annual Solidarity Harvest as well as outreach to farmers. \nJulia St.Clair (she/her) is the Agricultural Programs Manager at the Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust and has been overseeing the Tom Settlemire Community Garden and the Master Gardener Volunteer Project\, the Common Good Garden\, for the past five growing seasons. Julia has lived and worked on farms across New England and has been involved in community gardens in Bar Harbor\, Portland\, and South Portland. When sheā€™s not gardening\, cooking\, or talking about food\, Julia can be found swimming in the ocean\, reading on the couch with her cats\, or traveling the world to try new foods.

SUMMARY:2026 Student Exhibition in Lord Hall Gallery
DESCRIPTION:Lord Hall Gallery is proud to host the Department of Artā€™s 2026 Student Exhibition. This show celebrates the diverse artwork made by students at the 91±¬ĮĻ who have taken undergraduate courses in the Department of Art. The Department of Art offers foundational studies in 2D Design\, 3D Design\, and Drawing\, as well as media-specific classes in Painting\, Ceramics\, Photography\, Printmaking\, Digital Art\, Graphic Design\, Drawing\, and Sculpture. More information about the Department is available here:umaine.edu/las/art. \nStudents who were enrolled in an Art class in Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 had the opportunity to submit up to six pieces for consideration in this juried exhibition. This yearā€™s juror is Rochelle Lawrence. Lawrence is an artist and serves as the Assistant Curator and Education Coordinator at the Zillman Art Museum. \nThe exhibition runs from April 6th through May 1st. A public reception will be held on Friday April 10th from 5:00-7:00pm. During the reception\, selected students will be honored with awards. This event is free and open to the public; all are warmly welcomed to attend and refreshments will be served. \nLord Hall Gallery is free\, accessible\, and open to the public Monday-Friday from 9am-4pm.
