Lecture by Dr. Daniel Chartier: “What is the Imagined North?”
Please join us in welcoming Dr. Daniel Chartier for his lecture, “What is the Imagined North?”
Daniel Chartier is a professor at the Universit茅 du Qu茅bec 脿 Montr茅al (UQAM), and director of the , Winter and the Arctic. His lecture will focus on the many images, ideas, and discourses that have created the Imagined North, specifically ranging from the 鈥淣orth鈥 of Scandinavia, Greenland, Russia, to the 鈥淔ar North鈥 or the poles. Through this lecture, Dr. Chartier will address questions of Northern imagery and the ethics surrounding them. He will define what the Imagined North is, and then propose a new inclusive way of “recomplexify-ing” the cultural Arctic.
This lecture will take place on March 6th from noon to 1:30pm in the Bangor Room of the Memorial Union at the 91爆料. Lunch will be provided. This event is free, open to the public, and hosted by the Canadian-American Center. We hope to see you there!
