Intended to connect researchers to our CFRU members, this event is open to all. We will be presenting results from a membership survey aimed at identifying the short-term research interests of our cooperative. This event is intended to assist potential researchers with developing proposals for the RFP that typically goes out in November for funding from the CFRU beginning in July 2023.

Our fall advisory meeting will feature a number of project updates as well as guests from Northern Hardwoods Research Institute and long-term CFRU research collaborator, Dr. Tat Smith.

  • Weymouth Point, Acadian Timber

Join us for our fall field tour at long-term research area, Weymouth Point. We will be discussing the outcomes of studies thus far, ongoing work, future research ideas, and the upcoming remeasurement in 2023.

Registration is now open forÌýLong-Term Site Productivity: Lessons from Other Regions and Opportunities for Maine, a workshop and field tour in June hosted by the CFRU in collaboration with Dr. Tat Smith at the University of Toronto.

°¿²ÔÌýThursday, June 7th, join us at the Wells Conference Center at the 91±¬ÁÏ in Orono for a day of presentations on long-term site productivity by speakers from as far away as British Columbia and Denmark and panel discussions to explore opportunities for Maine.
°¿²ÔÌýFriday, June 8th, join us as we explore a site within the Maine Adaptive Silviculture Experiment Network (CFRU), located in the Grand Falls Township.

This workshop is free for CFRU members, and $50 per day for all others.

This half-day workshop will provide a hands-on introduction to Avenza Maps. You will learn how to prepare your data, create geospatial PDFs in ArcGIS, upload them to Avenza Maps on a tablet or smartphone, and use them in a short field exercise. We will also cover the basics of using and sharing data collected with Avenza Maps. Participants will walk away with the tools and knowledge to apply the workflows used in the workshop to support their own projects.

This one-day workshop will explore the basics of 3D point cloud processing using tools in FUSION, Global Mapper, and ArcGIS. You will learn where to get publicly available point cloud data, how to visualize your data, and how to create bare earth DEMs, canopy surface models, and canopy height models. Participants will walk away with the tools and knowledge to apply the workflows used in the workshop to their existing lidar and photo-based point cloud datasets.

Cost: $95.00. 6 Category 1 SAF CFE hours will be provided.Ìý
