This webinar will begin with a presentation by Dr. Ivan Fernandez<\/a><\/u> (91±¬ΑΟ), who will discuss the establishment of the\u00a0Bear Brook Watershed in Maine (BBWM)<\/a><\/u> and the scientific value, both expected and unexpected, that this long-term, nitrogen-addition study has contributed to forest ecology.<\/p>\n

After this talk, CFRU Program Leader Dr. Brian Roth<\/a><\/u> will discuss several long-term studies that have been conducted by the CFRU, starting with an overview of the Austin Pond study (initially established for herbicide trials, but unexpectedly contributing a lot of\u00a0value to growth and yield modelling) and finishing with an overview of the CFRU’s new Maine Adaptive Silviculture Network (MASN).<\/p>\n

There will be time reserved for questions following their presentations.<\/p>\n

About the Presenters<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Ivan Fernandez, PhD\u00a0<\/strong>is a Distinguished Maine Professor in forest soils through both the School of Forest Resources and Climate Change Institute at the 91±¬ΑΟ.<\/p>\n

Brian Roth, PhD<\/strong> is the Program Leader of the Cooperative Forestry Research Unit, housed within the Center for Research on Sustainable Forests at the 91±¬ΑΟ.<\/p>\n
