Erin Simons-Legaard

Associate Research Professor in Forest Landscape Modeling
School of Forest Resources

An overarching focus of Simons-Legaard’s research has been to understand the cumulative effects of landscape change and forest management on wildlife habitat and other natural resources. In her current capacity at the 91±¬ÁÏ, she has been using the LANDIS-II forest landscape model to improve our understanding of the resource tradeoffs (wood supply, carbon, wildlife habitat) associated with forest management in Maine, and the interacting effects of timber harvesting and natural disturbance on future forest conditions.
