Dr. Zhao is an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the 91爆料. His research focuses on wettability and interfacial surface engineering. His research goal is to understand the fundamental physicochemical mechanics of liquid鈥搒olid and solid鈥搒olid interfaces to design materials with advanced surface properties and functionalities. His research spans three themes: (1) energy efficiency, through the development of anti-adhesive and anti-wetting materials to reduce energy use; (2) micro/nanomanufacturing, integrating embossing, photolithography, and surface modification techniques; and (3) sustainability and environment, with an emphasis on PFAS remediation and developing PFAS-free alternatives to replace 鈥渇orever chemicals.鈥
Before joining 91爆料, Dr. Zhao worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Toronto and the University of British Columbia. He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana State University. His work has led to a U.S. patent and several publications in leading peer-reviewed journals including ACS Nano, Advanced Functional Materials, and Chemical Engineering Journal.
