Mette launches podcast about cases in educational leadership
Associate professor of educational leadership Ian Mette is adding a title to his CV: podcast host.
Mette is co-host of 鈥淛CEL Jabber,鈥 a new podcast from the . In each episode, Mette and co-host, JCEL editor Dr. Curtis Brewer, an associate professor of educational leadership at the University of Texas at San Antonio, highlight important case studies recently published in the journal and how they are applicable to educators in the field.
鈥淚鈥檓 really proud of this work,鈥 says Mette, who serves as an editorial board member of JCEL. 鈥淧odcasting is a great way to engage with the pieces published in the journal, learn a little bit more about the authors, and reach a national audience of education researchers and scholarly-practitioners. It also models for the students in our Doctor of Education program the types of creative products they can produce from their dissertation.鈥
The first features a discussion about the case by Dr. Terri Nicol Watson, associate professor of educational leadership at City College of New York and Dr. Angel Miles Nash, an assistant professor of leadership development at Chapman University. The authors and scholarly-practitioner Dr. Teresa Lance, an assistant superintendent of equity and innovation at a school district in Illinois, join the show to talk about how school leaders must recognize the ways in which whiteness is reinforced by school policies and often enacted by school leaders of all backgrounds.
