Scholars from around the world and various educational disciplines will share and discuss their research at the April 13\u201317 conference.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s a look at some of the events involving 91爆料 researchers:<\/p>\n<p><b>Thursday April 12<\/b><br \/>\nAssistant Professor of Education Tammy Mills will participate in Invisible College for Research on Teaching, a special session before the official start of the AERA conference. Mills will take part in a panel on \u201cDecentering the Researcher-Subject in Intimate Scholarship,\u201d where scholars will examine issues and practices around intimate scholarship, such as auto-ethnography and self-study.<\/p>\n<p><b>Friday April 13<\/b><br \/>\nAssistant Professor of Educational Leadership Catharine Biddle will participate in a symposium titled \u201cPossible and (Im)Possible Futures: Public Education in Diverse Rural Americas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Curriculum, Assessment and Instruction faculty Rebecca Buchanan and Mills, along with doctoral student Ming-Tso Chien will present at a paper session on \u201cLearning to Build Inclusive Classrooms: Promising Preservice Practices.\u201d They\u2019ll discuss their research paper \u201cWho Is Jessica? Using a Novel in a Multicultural Teacher Education Course,\u201d co-written with fellow faculty John Maddaus and Bryan Silverman. The paper is an analysis of one student\u2019s reflections on the novel \u201cWhite Bread\u201d by Christine Sleeter, used in the class EHD 202: Education in a Multicultural Society.<\/p>\n<p><b>Saturday April 14<\/b><br \/>\nAssistant Professor of Curriculum, Assessment and Instruction Rebecca Buchanan will present at a research roundtable on \u201cReimagining Measurement and Grading in Classroom Assessment.\u201d Buchanan will present a paper she co-wrote, titled \u201cHigh School Teachers Rethinking Grading: A Qualitative Study of Two Schools.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Educational Leadership faculty Ian Mette and Biddle will present their research on \u201cThe Relationship of School-Community Partnerships in Rural Reform Efforts\u201d at a poster session. Biddle and Mette will also present their paper \u201cDeconstructing Policy Implementation Imaginaries: A Comparison of School-Community Relationships Across Policy and Rural Practice\u201d at a rural education paper session, \u201cWhen Rurality and Policy Collide\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Assistant Professor of Science Education Elizabeth Hufnagel and Assistant Professor of Curriculum, Assessment and Instruction Asli Sezen-Barrie will each present at a structured poster session on \u201cResearching Discourse and Social Practices in Science and Engineering Education.\u201d Hufnagel will present her paper titled \u201cEmotional Discourse as Constructed in Environmental Science.\u201d Sezen-Barrie will present a paper she co-wrote, titled \u201cAn Interactional Ethnography Perspective to Analyze Informal Formative Assessments to Build Epistemic and Conceptual Coherence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b>Sunday April 15<\/b><br \/>\nVisiting Assistant Professor of Higher Education Kathleen Gillon and Visiting Assistant Professor in Human Development and Family Studies Patrick Cheek will present at a paper session on \u201cRural Postsecondary Quandaries.\u201d The title of their paper is \u201cIn Search of Stability: The Complexity of Rural College-Going, Uncertain Economies, and Family Involvement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mette will present at a paper session on \u201cThe Role of Supervision Across Contexts and Within Educational Communities.\u201d Mette\u2019s paper is titled \u201cThe Conflation Between Supervision and Evaluation in a State Teacher Evaluation and Professional Growth System.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b>Monday April 16<\/b><br \/>\nBuchanan will present at a paper session on \u201cLives of Teachers: Beginning, Navigating, and Looking Back.\u201d She will talk about a paper she co-authored, titled \u201cAn Investigation of Long-Term Professional Development That Targets Teacher Beliefs and Practices.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hufnagel will take part in a paper session on \u201cNavigating Affect and Constructing Identity in the Learning Sciences.\u201d She will discuss a paper she co-authored, titled \u201cI Find This Mind-Boggling!!\u201d How Affect Supports Science Inquiry in an Online Learning Environment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mills will present at a structured poster session on \u201cThe Model of Domain Learning: Understanding the Development of Expertise.\u201d She will discuss a paper she co-wrote, titled \u201cSupporting Teachers\u2019 Learning Trajectories: The Model of Domain Learning as an Analytic Lens to Examine Exemplary Programs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Professor of Higher Education Elizabeth Allan will chair a symposium on \u201cPower, Discourse, and Institutional Policy: Discourse Analysis in Higher Education Research.\u201d Research topics covered during the symposium range from explorations of sexual assault and trans-inclusive policies at higher education institutions to using policy discourse analysis to understand diversity and organizational culture.<\/p>\n<p><b>Tuesday April 17<\/b><br \/>\nBuchanan will participate in a paper session on \u201cJustice-Oriented Transformations in Preservice Teachers\u2019 Field Experiences,\u201d where she will discuss her paper, \u201cApprenticeship in Teacher Education.\u201d Buchanan will also take part in a symposium on \u201cChallenges and Opportunities: Exploring the Social, Political, and Cultural Influences on Teacher Identity Development,\u201d where she will talk about a paper she co-authored, \u201cTeacher Identity in the Current Teacher Education Policy Climate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sezen-Barrie will participate in a structured poser session on \u201cEquity and Agency in Climate Change Education.\u201d She will talk about a paper she co-wrote, titled \u201c\u2018A Different Kind of Middleman\u2019: Lessons From Ms. Crawford on Preservice Science Teachers\u2019 Agency and Climate Change.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biddle will chair a
