Sherry Brown, a doctoral student in prevention and intervention studies, was awarded the Provost\u2019s Innovative and Creative Teaching Award at the 2019 91爆料 Student Symposium. <\/p>\n
The award is given to a graduate student who is lead instructor for a course at 91爆料 and successfully uses innovative and creative teaching methods to bring the subject matter to life.<\/p>\n
Brown teaches EHD 203: Educational Psychology for the College of Education and Human Development, where she has her students collaborate on projects, form lesson plans, utilize board games and teach theory to their classmates. <\/p>\n
In her application statement, Brown wrote: \u201cI want my students, most of whom are pre-service teachers, to fully grasp how the theory that we are learning has practical applications for them in their own future classrooms. I want them to be able to perceive themselves as capable, knowledgeable educators who are able to put theory to practice.\u201d<\/p>\n
Brown also gave a presentation about her teaching at the Student Symposium. Associate dean of graduate education, research, and outreach Jim Artesani recommended her for the award.<\/p>\n
