{"id":17,"date":"2010-09-22T12:31:55","date_gmt":"2010-09-22T16:31:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/umaine.edu\/facultysenate\/"},"modified":"2021-10-07T12:57:52","modified_gmt":"2021-10-07T16:57:52","slug":"structure","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/facultysenate\/structure\/","title":{"rendered":"Senate Structure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Faculty Senate Members<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Faculty Senate consists of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 Senator for each 10 full time faculty (each college shall have at least 4 Senators)<\/li>\n<li>President, 91爆料 (non-voting)<\/li>\n<li>Executive Vice President &amp; Provost for Academic Affairs<\/li>\n<li>Vice President for Research<\/li>\n<li>Deans&#8217; Council Representative<\/li>\n<li>Two Undergraduate students<\/li>\n<li>One Graduate student<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Faculty Senate Officers<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: normal\">President<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: normal\">Vice President<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: normal\">Secretary<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: normal\">Faculty Representative to the Board of Trustees<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Faculty Senate Committees<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: normal\">Academic Affairs<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: normal\">Finance and Institutional Planning<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: normal\">Research and Scholarship<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: normal\">Service and Outreach<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: normal\">University Environment<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: normal\">Constitution and Bylaws<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: normal\">Committee on Committees <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: normal\">Library Advisory Committee<\/span><\/li>\n<li>IT Committee<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: normal\"><a href=\"\/facultysenate\/committees-list\/pcrrc\/\">Program Creation and Reorganization Review Committee<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: normal\"><a href=\"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/facultysenate\/committees\/general-education-committee\/\">General Education Committee<\/a><br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Executive Committee of the Faculty Senate.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The senate officers and the chairs of the above standing committees constitute the Executive Committee of the Faculty Senate. If any of the Colleges is not represented by an elected officer or an appointed Committee Chair, the Senate President shall appoint a representative for the college to serve as a member of the Executive Committee.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Parliamentary Procedure<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Faculty Senate Constitution states that it adheres to Robert&#8217;s Rules of Order. Members should review a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.robertsrules.org\/indexprint.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Summary Version of Robert&#8217;s Rules of Order<\/a>. The Faculty Senate has traditionally followed a relaxed form of Robert&#8217;s Rules using the raising of a hand in order to be recognized by the Chair and with no need of seconding a motion that comes to the floor from a Committee.
