{"id":3253,"date":"2022-02-01T03:40:28","date_gmt":"2022-02-01T08:40:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/francoamerican\/?p=3253"},"modified":"2022-02-01T15:59:11","modified_gmt":"2022-02-01T20:59:11","slug":"internships-with-the-franco-american-portal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/francoamerican\/2022\/02\/01\/internships-with-the-franco-american-portal\/","title":{"rendered":"Internships with the Franco American Digital Archive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Franco American Digital Archive Internship<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>The Franco American Digital Archive (FADA) (<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/francoamericanportal.org\"><b>https:\/\/francoamericanportal.org<\/b><\/a><b>),<\/b> a five-university collaboration to build a digital research tool for Franco American archives and special collections, is seeking motivated student interns to assist the project and its partner institutions with archival processing, digitization, metadata creation, and other tasks related to the stewardship of print and digitized archival materials.<\/p>\n<p>Student interns may participate in work either in-person or virtually, or in a hybrid environment. Some training may be required. Tasks may vary according to the needs of the project, student skill sets, and student location.<\/p>\n<p><b>Duties<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Scan or photograph archival materials according to major preservation standards.<\/li>\n<li>Generate access copies of preservation media<\/li>\n<li>Create and enter item metadata according to established cataloging rules and metadata profiles.<\/li>\n<li>Create and enter collection metadata according to established cataloging rules and metadata profiles.<\/li>\n<li>Generate item and collection records within FAPP\u2019s Omeka beta portal.<\/li>\n<li>Other tasks as needed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>French language competency preferred but not required<\/p>\n<p><b>Location(s)<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Due to the nature of this project, interns can participate in-person, virtually, or both.
