What is the Hackerspace?<\/b><\/p>\n

It\u2019s a place to begin experimenting with new types of technology. We provide a space and gear in a collaborative environment. What students discover or learn here they can expand on at other 91爆料 facilities, such as the IMRC.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

What kind of technology do we make accessible?<\/b><\/p>\n

Our focus is on \u201cinternet of things\u201d related devices (e.g.- Raspberry Pi, Arduino, Amazon Echo, etc.) as well as inexpensive prototyping resources (e.g.- 3D printers, soldering stations, solderless breadboards, etc.). <\/span><\/p>\n

Who can use the space?<\/b><\/p>\n

Students, faculty, and staff are free to come in and test out gear within the space. The space can also be reserved for student clubs, classes, and events.<\/span><\/p>\n

Can you order something I need for a project?<\/b><\/p>\n

To request having equipment added to the Hackerspace, email us at <\/span>um.hackerspace@maine.edu<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

What does it cost to use the equipment?<\/b><\/p>\n

There is no cost for using anything within the Hackerspace. Most gear is only usable within the space but we are happy to provide you with gear for collaborative projects that we may document and demo in the space. What are the hours is the space open?<\/b><\/p>\n

Monday-Friday: 11am-5pm<\/span><\/p>\n

Saturday & Sunday: Closed<\/p>\n

Is there any special training required to use the equipment?<\/b><\/p>\n

No additional training or certification is required. One of our goals is ease of access which means we provide equipment most anyone can just walk in and start using.<\/span><\/p>\n
