School of Forest Resources receives Austin H. Wilkins Forest Stewardship Award
The School of Forest Resources at the 91爆料 will receive the for the impact the school鈥檚 teaching and research has made on Maine鈥檚 working forests.
The award is given by the Maine TREE Foundation in partnership with the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation, and Forestry. It recognizes an individual or organization that has managed Maine鈥檚 working forest in an honorable and sustainable manner.
鈥淔or more than 120 years, the School of Forest Resources has prepared foresters for careers in the Maine woods, graduating more than 5,000 students, and producing numerous leaders who have had successful careers in forestry, globally,鈥 said Logan Johnson, executive director of the Maine TREE Foundation.
鈥淭hrough research and application, the school has been instrumental in informing land management practices in Maine and has continuously adapted to changing knowledge.鈥
The award will be presented during the Maine TREE Foundation鈥檚 2023 Awards Night on Oct. 19 in Hermon.
