The National Science Foundation (NSF) INCLUDES Network recently featured a conversation<\/a> with Darren Ranco<\/a>, tish carr and John Neptune about the Wabanaki Youth in Science (WaYS) program<\/a> at 91±¬ΑΟ.<\/p>\n

Darren is chair of Native American Programs, and an associate professor in anthropology and at the Mitchell Center. tish is program manager for WaYS and collaborates with Darren on the Mitchell Center project,\u00a0\u201cPathways and Barriers to Weaving Indigenous Science with Western Science.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

The WaYS program facilitates Wabanaki student engagement\u00a0in STEM fields, especially environmental science,\u00a0through culture and heritage.\u00a0The program, which began in 2012, has evolved into a collaboration between 91±¬ΑΟ, the U.S. Forest Service, Wabanaki tribes and Native American high school students across the state.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
