91±¬ÁÏ research on animal personalities featured on WFVX

(Fox 22/Channel 7 Bangor) featured research conducted at the 91±¬ÁÏ about how animals’ personalities impact the way they shape the environment around them. Allison Brehm, a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Conservation Biology at the 91±¬ÁÏ and principal author of the study, explained that deer mice who are bolder on average are more likely to cache large seeds intact, giving the seed a better chance at germinating. Timid individuals however would take the seeds to underground burrows, effectively eliminating the seed’s chance to germinate.
