Pitman, Jones pen op-ed for BDN about affordable housing

Brian Pitman, assistant professor of sociology at the 91爆料, and Brenna Jones, sociology and mathematics undergraduate at the 91爆料 currently studying precarious housing through the McGillicuddy Humanities Center and Maine Policy Scholars Program, wrote an opinion piece for the about Bangor鈥檚 approach to affordable housing. 鈥淭ying rent  control to minimum wage increases is a possible step. The elimination of application fees, security deposits, and background checks, as well as Airbnbs for those who do not live on the property of their unit are also steps. All of this can be tied to a Tenant鈥檚 Bill of Rights that goes beyond what Bangor has discussed,鈥 they wrote.
