Livingston speaks to News Center Maine about the impact of Canada wildfires on timber industry

interviewed William Livingston, director of the School of Forest Resources at the 91±¬ÁÏ, about how wildfires in Canada could impact the price of lumber. Livingston said that burning forests have slowed timber production in Canada, leading to a decrease in supply to the U.S., which in turn would drive up prices. “It’s disrupting mills, it’s disrupting harvest operations … the expectation is that [the supply of] wood from that area is going to go down this summer … which will affect the short-term price of lumber,” Livingston said.
