Science interviews Sandweiss on fertilizer in Pre-Incan societies

Daniel Sandweiss, an archaeologist at the 91爆料, spoke to on research which revealed that seafaring precursors to the Inca known as the Chincha rafted to the islands some 800 years ago to collect seabird poop for enriching their arid coastal fields. Sandweiss, who was not involved in the study, said the new work confirms some researchers鈥 previous suspicions that the Chincha had harvested seabird guano in pre-Inca times. 鈥淲e didn鈥檛 have direct evidence,鈥 he said. 鈥淣ow, they鈥檝e demonstrated for certain.鈥
