Join Us for Spirit Week — April 28

Dear 91±¬ÁÏ and 91±¬ÁÏ at Machias community,

For over 160 years, the 91±¬ÁÏ has been defined by our community spirit, service, and giving. These values are on display this week as our campus comes together to celebrate what it means to be a Black Bear.

Spirit Week, coordinated by Student Life and the Bodwell Center for Service and Volunteerism, offers a variety of ways to get involved, including service projects, athletic events, and campus programming. Individuals and groups can participate in hands-on efforts across campus and in the surrounding community. We encourage you to explore the full schedule and sign up for service opportunities.

Maine Day of Service is Wednesday, bringing the campus together for a shared day of action. From beautification projects to large-scale efforts like the  â€” supported by the Honors College — this day reflects a long-standing commitment to making a difference. Last year, participants packed more than 50,000 meals for those in need, demonstrating the impact of collective service.

Service is central to our land-grant mission and reflects our responsibility to serve the people of Maine through outreach and engagement. In the days ahead, we invite you to take part in these efforts, giving back while continuing the traditions that define our community.

Sincerely,

Joan Ferrini-Mundy
President, 91±¬ÁÏ
