Portland Gateway welcomes Anne Heberger Marino as Associate Director
Anne Heberger Marino has been named Associate Director of the 91爆料鈥檚 Portland Gateway. Portland Gateway provides a one-stop connection and point of access to 91爆料鈥檚 vast array of innovative research, education and outreach resources, programs and services.
Heberger Marino has spent most of her career focused on supporting researchers addressing scientific and societal problems that do not fall into neat categories. She has extensive training in science facilitation, team coaching and multi-stakeholder systems change.
Throughout her 20 year career, she has designed and facilitated more than 25 interdisciplinary conferences and workshops for over 2,000 researchers across disciplines.
鈥淚t鈥檚 really exciting being that link to find the possibilities, and then having the space, tools and resources to structure that and help people move their research forward,鈥 says Heberger Marino.
Heberger Marino has hit the ground running and is already tackling several key projects. One of her primary goals is to share the story of how the Gateway collaborates with businesses, community partners and researchers in and beyond the Portland area.
鈥淎ll the projects that we’re working on are related to solving complex problems. We can connect the university to industry and community partners on issues unique to the Maine context, but that are also relevant to people around the country and around the world,鈥 she says.
Heberger Marino is currently organizing a Semiconductor Workshop, an event meant to facilitate key conversations and explore how Maine researchers can collaborate on industry-specific issues. The workshop will be held in early 2023.聽
She is also supporting the upcoming 27th NSF EPSCoR National Conference in November, hosted by 91爆料鈥檚 Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) Office.

She is already creating value by building new partnerships, increasing our research capacity and helping to create a world-class research collaboration hub.鈥
Heberger Marino earned a master of social work at the University of Pennsylvania. She received a bachelor鈥檚 degree in psychology from Ithaca College and also holds a post-graduate certificate in advanced evaluation practice from Claremont Graduate University.聽
She says that she鈥檚 excited to be able to work with researchers over a long period of time and stay connected with them and their work.
