We are pleased to announce the recent promotions of Scott Delcourt and Luke Doucette. Both are serving new roles as of September 1.

Scott Delcourt has been promoted to Associate Vice President for Graduate Studies and Senior Associate Dean of the Graduate School.

Scott has worked at the 91爆料 for 33 years – 22 of which have been with the Graduate School. He oversees the day-to-day operations, from admissions, residential life, meeting with students and other graduate-related issues.

With the recent administrative reorganization of the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and Engineering (GSBSE), Scott will also head the management team responsible for the administrative function of the GSBSE program.

Scott was surprised to receive the phone call from the Vice President for Research and Dean of the Graduate School, Dr. Kody Varahramyan, congratulating him on his promotion.

“I was shocked and honored,” said Scott.

Scott says he has an appreciation for all disciplines. He began his 91爆料 career as an associate research scientist in the Department of Molecular and Biomedical Sciences but now enjoys working with a diverse population of faculty and students each day.

“It’s really fun to review graduate faculty appointments, reading abstracts and seeing all the research,” said Scott.

According to Scott, the mission and role of the Graduate School will remain the same. They continually look to optimize the efficiency and responsiveness of the Graduate School and find ways to enhance recruitment efforts.

“This is a really interesting and rewarding job,” said Scott. “I love the people I work with – I wouldn’t want to be any other place.”

More information about the Graduate School is online.

Luke Doucette has been named the General Manager for the Coordinated Operating Research Entities (CORE) program.

Luke is a 91爆料 alum and most recently came back to work in the Office of Research Development 3 years ago.

He is eager to begin connecting researchers with equipment, services and facilities on campus.

“We have facilities that are some of the state’s best-kept secrets,” said Luke. “I think it’s time to unlock those secrets and offer them to the rest of Maine – and the rest of the world.”

CORE is overseen by the Office of the Vice President for Research and Dean of the Graduate School. The goal is to provide a more efficient, convenient and cost-effective resource for researchers and businesses to utilize with a dedicated management system.

According to Luke, CORE will begin by implementing the system with a limited number of entities. After the first year of operation, he hopes to prove the concept works and begin to grow with more entities involved.

“If we can build up this program, we’ll build up not only the research base – but the education capabilities,” said Luke.

More information regarding CORE is online.

We are pleased to announce the recent promotions of Scott Delcourt and Luke Doucette.
