Geologist’s Stone<\/em>, the centerpiece of the Buchanan Alumni House Courtyard, was created by former 91爆料 Professor of Art Deborah DeMoulpied from slate she selected from the quarries in Monson, Maine. The sculpture, a gift of Frances Leveille in honor of her geologist husband, Richard R. Leveille (’51), was named to reflect Leveille’s long career and specialization. DeMoulpied chose a stone with dramatic, undulating edges and added liquid bronze as a striking, contrasting medium to carry the water over the edge of this handsome sculpture-fountain. The Geologist’s Stone<\/em> was installed when the courtyard, known as the Class of 1965 Courtyard, was completed. Incidentally, the Arlington Cemetery grave markers of both John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis are of black Monson slate.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
