\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I walked along my path and saw a tree on the ground.
Solitary, it stood. It was once tall, Triumphant.
Now, on the ground it lay. Crestfallen, defeated.

Can a tree feel when it is about to fall?
If it could, would that make its descent more tragic\u2014
To know the tree must fall and nothing can stop it?
To know that for all its stature, it still cannot overcome the winds?

Think instead about a falling tree in a forest.
Familiar branches anchor it, catch it amidst its fall.
Supported by neighbors, the tree weathers gravity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
