{"id":1176,"date":"2019-03-19T13:54:55","date_gmt":"2019-03-19T17:54:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.umaine.edu\/userguide\/?p=1176"},"modified":"2019-03-26T13:55:44","modified_gmt":"2019-03-26T17:55:44","slug":"new-service-for-faculty-websites","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/userguide\/2019\/03\/19\/new-service-for-faculty-websites\/","title":{"rendered":"New service for faculty websites"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Historically, our support for the website needs of faculty has included two solutions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A faculty bio page within a college, school or unit website<\/li>\n<li>A lab site to contain the work done by a faculty member alongside students<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Some faculty have in the past found that their web needs fall between these two solutions; they have more information to share than what fits in a faculty bio page on a website, but creating a lab site mischaracterizes their work.<\/p>\n<p>We have contracted with a\u00a0<span class=\"il\">WordPress<\/span>\u00a0service provider named CampusPress to offer a new solution for faculty websites at\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:um.weboffice@maine.edu?subject=Interest%20in%20a%20faculty%20website%20on%20faculty.umaine.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">faculty.umaine.edu<\/a>\u00a0web addresses. The above two options remain available. This new solution utilizes\u00a0<span class=\"il\">WordPress<\/span>\u00a0but is not integrated with the 91±¬ΑΟ public website environment. Brand standards and web accessibility remain requirements with this new service, but the websites are intended to have\u00a0more design autonomy for faculty professional content.
