{"id":156,"date":"2015-09-18T18:25:41","date_gmt":"2015-09-18T18:25:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/umaine.edu\/wintersession\/?page_id=156"},"modified":"2025-10-15T11:38:25","modified_gmt":"2025-10-15T15:38:25","slug":"drop-withdrawal-refund-policy","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/wintersession\/drop-withdrawal-refund-policy\/","title":{"rendered":"Add\/ Drop\/ Withdrawal\/ Refund Policy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Be sure to consider both the academic <em>and<\/em> the financial consequences of dropping your Winter Session course.<\/p>\n<h3>Add\/Drop Period<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Students have through the end of the day Dec. 30, 2025 to add a Winter Session course without instructor permission.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Academic deadlines for dropping a Winter Session courses will follow the following timeline:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span id=\"UM_DERIVED_SR_UM_DESCRLONG_1\" class=\"PSLONGEDITBOX\">If dropped on or before 12\/31\/2025, this class will not appear on your transcript. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span id=\"UM_DERIVED_SR_UM_DESCRLONG_1\" class=\"PSLONGEDITBOX\">If dropped after 12\/31\/2025, but on or before 1\/12\/26, this class will appear on your transcript and a grade of W will be assigned.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span id=\"UM_DERIVED_SR_UM_DESCRLONG_2\" class=\"PSLONGEDITBOX\">If dropped after 1\/12\/26, this class will appear on your transcript and a grade of F will be assigned.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Financial Deadlines<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The withdrawal\/refund policy for Winter Session will follow standard policies for three-week courses.\n<ul>\n<li>Students have three days to drop the course and receive a full refund (course must be dropped on or before 12\/31\/25). After that, no refunds will be issued except upon successful appeal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>*Students who cease attendance, in any or all of their classes, without providing official notification are not entitled to a refund. If a student ceases attendance for emergency reasons, the University will accept a written appeal. Normally, appeals will be considered up to 90 days after the close of the term for which the student is requesting a financial adjustment.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Please contact <a href=\"mailto:dlladvising@maine.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dlladvising@maine.edu<\/a> if you are looking to submit an appeal.
