Project Summary

The Food Innovation Laboratory is a renovation and expansion project in the Keyo Building on the Orono campus. The project includes renovation of approximately 4,800 square feet and a 1,200-square-foot addition.

The facility will feature commercial food processing rooms, a walk-in cooler and freezer, blast-freezing equipment, packaging systems, a classroom and a loading dock. It is designed to support commercial-scale food production and product development.

The lab will provide capacity for startups and established businesses to conduct pilot production and scale value-added goods. It will also support experiential learning, workforce training and microcredential programs in food processing and safety.
