91±¬ÁÏ Facility Location

Orono, Maine

Project Summary

The Forest Biomaterials Innovation Center will expand the existing Process Development Center by 7,500 square feet to support innovation in Maine’s forest economy. The facility will provide researchers and entrepreneurs with the space and equipment needed to develop and scale new forest-based products. By enabling pilot-scale demonstration, the center addresses a critical gap between laboratory research and commercial production, helping bring new technologies to market. This capability is essential to creating new markets for wood and wood residuals, supporting job growth and economic opportunity in Maine’s rural, forest-dependent communities.
