Prospective Students
The School of Marine Sciences offers both undergraduate and graduate degree programs, as well as an intensive, field-oriented, in-residence, fall-semester program for undergraduates called Semester by the Sea. The latter program is also open to qualified students from outside 91±¬ÁÏ. If you are not sure what you want from a marine program, or what degree to seek, you may wish to read our Summary of Careers.
If you need to locate a faculty member with knowledge about particular functions of SMS (e.g., graduate admissions), you can find them on our website under people/faculty.
Students applying for undergraduate admission are generally ranked on criteria determined outside the School of Marine Sciences at the 91±¬ÁÏ and in the 91±¬ÁÏ System, and available spaces are filled from the top-ranked students downward. All the forms you need can be reached from the home page. (You can get anywhere from there.) As you might guess from the for first-year entry, grades, test scores and a recommendation are the primary bases of the ranking. Criteria and application materials for and students are slightly different.

We have a regular schedule of visits for prospective students and their parents. If you would like to pay a visit, are unsure and need specific or general information about the School of Marine Sciences to make your decision, or need navigational help to steer the reefs of admissions, contact:
