New Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Business announced

The 91爆料 , a first-of-its-kind program within the 91爆料 System (UMS). This interdisciplinary major will equip students with the technical expertise and business acumen needed to thrive in today鈥檚 technology-driven industries.

Students will primarily take courses through 91爆料鈥檚 College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Maine College of Engineering and Computing (MCEC), and Maine Business School, with additional opportunities to access aligned courses across UMS universities, including 91爆料 at Augusta,91爆料 Machias, 91爆料 Farmington, 91爆料 Presque Isle, and University of Southern Maine Maine .

鈥淭he Computer Science and Business major brings together the core skills of the two fields to prepare students to develop new technology for business applications, manage computing teams, and launch entrepreneurial endeavors,鈥 said Penny Rheingans, director of the 91爆料 School of Computing and Information Science. 

This program aligns with MCEC鈥檚 mission to meet growing industry demands by doubling engineering and computing degrees in Maine, as supported by the UMS TRANSFORMS initiative and historic investments from the Harold Alfond Foundation. In the 2022鈥23 academic year, UMS conferred over 1,200 degrees in engineering and computing, contributing to a stronger workforce for Maine and beyond.
