Description

Modeling and simulation of American lobster in the Gulf of Maine: spatial distribution, conservation management, and monitoring program designs.

Develop computer simulation frameworks to:

  1. explore the non-stationary relationships between top-down (i.e. predators) and bottom-up (i.e. bottom water temperature, distance offshore, and sediment) factors and American lobster.
  2. quantify the impact of conservation rules (i.e. minimum and maximum legal sizes) on the dynamics of lobster population
  3. evaluate the effectiveness of lobster monitoring programs in the Gulf of Maine
